It is illegal to ... ( 2 months ago by seanredsky)
It is illegal to distill alcohol intended for human consumption. However, you can apply for a permit which allows for the distilling of alcohol intended to be used for fuel. The permit is very cheap and easy to get. The only requirement is that you must add 2 gallons of gasoline to every 500 gallons of distilled alcohol to ensure it will not be consumed by people. This information is readily available and should also be provided when you apply for your permit. Hope that helps!

FEAR, is a strong motivator. It has been used against us for a long, long time. STOP complaining just read this guys book and you'll find out that there are ways and procedure to cover all your fears like going to jail... Information is POWER. BRAZIL is self sufficient and all they use is alcohol. But if you're weak DO NOT READ THIS BOOK!!! You can't handle the truth.

alcohol can be made ... ( 2 months ago by chrispixem)
alcohol can be made out of the unedible parts of plants, or even plants like cattails, and kelp. Why don't people do a little research before they run their fkn mouth!!
Interested in how ... ( 2 months ago by mdostay)
Interested in how he proposes to get a 100% alcohol engine to start in colder climates. IIRC, even in Brazil, between the equator and the tropic of cancer, where average low temps year round are > 20C, they still have a tank for gas to start the car, and a tank for alcohol once the car is warm. You need to be at operating temp before you can burn alcohol.

@ 16:00 he explains how more useful food will come from corn as a byproduct of the production of alcohol from the otherwise useless corn starch.

This is true but ... ( 2 months ago by oldphoque)
This is true but you will have to be inspected and can expect unexpected visits from the fda and atf. Just make sure your blend has an unedible prtion of petrol. That and you have to have a safe apparatus.

Kinda defeats the friggin' purpose if you are trying to not use any gas to have to add it to the alcohol you make. Are you certain you can't add something else to make it undrinkable?

This guy should be the Energy Czar for the US, why are we not running all of our engines on alcohol??????
The problem is that ... ( 2 weeks ago by peakmoment)
The problem is that corn ethanol does not give us a very good energy return on energy invested. It wouldn't be economical in the U.S. if we taxpayers weren't subsidizing it. Ethanol doesn't have the energy density of petroleum (or we'd be using it instead the past 150 years). Cellulosic ethanol is not commercially viable yet.
Dark, David's book ... ( 1 week ago by peakmoment)
Dark, David's book wasn't out when we taped the show. My goal was to get him to cover the topic in a balanced way, especially the issues of net energy return. I understand Rockefeller's nefarious work against alcohol for fuel. I think alcohol from appropriate sources (not corn) will be part of our energy substitutes. I have zero connections with the oil people.
