Yeah, the feet add ... ( 6 months ago by bongorilao)
Yeah, the feet add another whole dimension to your sound. I would add a foot pedal for a small bass drum on the right side, but then I'd have to put the bongos on a stand. I like the angle holding the bongos between the knees better, which allows me to move to the other drums by just raising my arms. The rest of the time my arms are kept down in a relaxed position.

Also, I don't like the bongos above the congas because the bongos are my focus drums, much like a snare drum is to a kit. Notice I use my hembra as a proxy bass drum, or rather, without my foot I'm thinking bass drum when I hit it. These eclectic drum kits can only grow with your imagination but much more interesting to play. I need a small set of chimes which would fit in perfect with the beginning of this tune.

No. Btw ... I spent about 20 minutes yesterday getting used to playing with this setup. This is the first time using 5 drums but it was a natural progression from using 3 drums - but it all centers on the bongos. I may try a stand for the djembe to raise it off the floor. You can't get that fantastic bass sound because sitting on the floor muffles it. However, the edge of the djembe head sounds like a timbale. Overall, this setup is fun to play. That's really what it's all about for me.

You are an awesome friend, brada. Btw ... Playing drums is a basic thing inside us. We've been doin it since humans began walking the planet, I guess. Best wishes for your future videos.

I know...the djembe ... ( 6 months ago by marisabellas)
I know...the djembe ( not the african made ones) gets a whole lotta tones. I have a remo. What kind of skins should I put on my bongos?
WTF? Brada, you got ... ( 6 months ago by bongomanfromdalou)
WTF? Brada, you got it all out there!
Incredible job! The bongos are front and center (and those slaps are excellent as always!), but adding those congas and that djembe add a lot of interplay and texture that I've never heard before! A djembe stand would add to the sound quality (try hitting the center of the djembe to add major bal
ls to your bass, too), but brada, this is the best damn vid you've ever done! You introduced Tommy, but who's the bongo bear? (LMFAO!) Love ya, bro'!
Yeah, I thought ... ( 6 months ago by bongorilao)
Yeah, I thought about a Remo djembe; my African drum came with friends in the wood - beatles! They said spray it with insecticide, but I have to play the thing! I need a stand for it. My macho has a Remo synthetic head, sounds a little plastic vice the warm tones you get with skin. I get a little nervous playing animal skins. But the synthetic skins help pollute the planet (by-product of somethin), so, either way, I'm mucking up the earth and/or killing animals/trees for my drumming pleasure.
The bear is from ... ( 6 months ago by bongorilao)
The bear is from England, possibly my ancestral stomping grounds. Anyway, this is a good way to make musical soup. I got my fun, so now get yo fun. Result: Six minutes of thinkin about nothin but a drum beat. Bliss.

I like your message ... ( 6 months ago by Vojtare)
I like your message, it actually really motivated me to make my own drumming video as soon as I get apparatus good enough to capture it. btw.: The sound of the djembe and congos can be really improved by the stands. Especially the djembe does the doon sound only when off ground. Maybe if you used a higher chair it could be feasible...
