They were defintely influenced by RunDMC 'cause they started in 1984, so they are old school for sure. The music was in the air and these Canadian crackers couldn't help but catch the wave. I think the 3 saxes and drums and no microphone hook is kinda unique.

I watch this video here about three or four times every month. I also cross-post it on messageboards for my own purposes, namely to try to bring some romanticism to transit. ("Romantic Traffic" by the Spoons is also good for that) Great video, cool song, and damn it helps us new urbanists. :)

Old school.
I wish I was born 10 years earlier to really appreciate that whole scene in the mid, late 80s in TO. Especially since that was really the beginning with Ron Nelson and his 88.1 show that was like when hip-hop was really coming through to Toronto. Then we started producing our own rappers with Mae
stro and Michie Mee. Too bad i can't remember a thing before '95.

hum! I had the chance recently to discover Spadina avenue (and Toronto obviously) and my first idea was to look around to find the famous bus!.... sadly I only found street cars, and cars and people... Ah well! I walked and walked and fell somewhat in love with this area of the city! I love this videoclip... even more now that I put it in context! ~:oD

Thanks for posting this vid :) I have a copy on a VHS of something that was on CityTV, guess the movie fell short of the time slot so they'd play a vid or two and have been looking for a better version for years. I enjoyed this song so much that when I planned my model railroad I included a 77B to Spadina Stn (even though the layout isn't about Toronto) Rock on fellas, rock on.

Ons spring day in ' ... ( 3 days ago by fabrikk60)
Ons spring day in '86, I emerged from a subway exit on Spadina Ave and walked right into the filming of this thing. Specifically, the bit where the drummer is hitting the building with his sticks and the other guys are vamping alongside. That was my intro to the Demons... Sure it was cheesy - so what?? It was fun and different. People who have to automatically diss all goofy art need to lighten up. I live in Vancouver now, where transit is pathetic. Sure do miss the TTC!
