If only QT's films were as good as Rio Bravo (Or any of Hawks films for that matter) Then I would care for what he has to say. Listen to the commentary by John Carpenter and Richard Shickel on the Special Edition DVD for an awesome view on the film. He's completely right about a "hang out" type of film though.

Totally, I cannot count how many times i've watched this movie. It's a good feeling-sick or 'hangout' movie, nice characters and good go-get-um plot; the kind of thing you'd watch with your dad when you were young. And yes I did inflict this movie on my girlfriend and she did like it.
