Try to let the people say if it's politically motivated not the news reporter. Or slip them some money to make fake spin. Guess you're not as established with hired propaganists in Venezuela yet?

Wimmy- As much as I hate bush, I have to say Chavez is far worse. I am an American but also a Venezuelan. Bush might, be a foreign policy disgrace, and Americas worst president ever- however Chavez is a dictator who doesn't just move around laws like Bush. He utterly destroys them. The venezuelan constitution has been obliterated, civil rights do not exist anymore, our infrastructure is crumbling and crime is becoming unbearable. This is even more sad, when one notes that Venezuela is.....

Just wait until the world economy *REALLY* collapses, thanks to the US' Federal Reserve system and Ben Bernanke, flooding the world with USD, creating worldwide inflation, and oil and food crises. There will be rioting in the streets, raining stockbrokers, and rampant crime. People will WISH for somewhere as safe as Caracas is now!
Hugo Chavez is ... ( 1 month ago by jerkinp)
Hugo Chavez is exceptionally a lot better than Bush. Bush helps alleviate taxes that are breaking the backs of the rich, while Hugo Chavez tries to aid the poor. No Venezuelan leader has done more than him for the poor. Without the poor who are the majority that supported him he would not be in position he is now... Chavez could easily be overthrown by the upper class of Venezuela without the backing of the poor.

Why can't we aid the poor without turning the poor into pod people controlled by a caudillo like Chavez?

I'm expecting financial system collapse, with generational inflationary depression, and resultant social disturbances (natural or incited), used as an excuse for fascism/tyranny. And perhaps a concurrent form of population reduction (natural (ie disease), or otherwise). "They've" known this point has been coming, and have been preparing for it. There have been THOUSANDS of fiat currencies throughout history, and not one has survived. The USD will be no different, and is in its final stages now.

I am not a Chavez fan but I find it hilarious that you think this. Venezuela has the most liberal media in all of Latin America and need I inform you of the popular referendum that voted down Chavez's extension in office. Obviously you are the pod pandering to your government's rhetoric of a dictatorial Chavez.

It may be a fundamental mistake to assume that one size fits all with regard to the efficacy of a single political model. The only likely future seems to be discontinuity political regime, which is reflected in superficial changes. The usury of global monetary policy must eventually be realize by the masses. I used to just eat up the rhetoric about Chavez. I don't have to agree with him on all issues to respect his stand against the monolithic social inequalities aggregated by the World Bank.

thats just another latin version of western vote circus. Chavez got not the size and not the right heart and he loves money like all the false polititians around the globe. So this is truly temporary and he gives nothing about his own folks, same as Bush, just other terms.

It's amazing that a city like Caracas is the murder capital of the world, while a much safer city like Johannesburg is CALLED the murder capital of the world. Weird. The same thing happened wirtth Medellin,. It was much more violent than Jo'burg before the paraMilitaries cleansed it, but was frequently portrayed as the safer city probably because Afrikaners force it down people's throats.
