I think this video and song killed her career. "Black Velvet" rocked like a demon, and Myles had the pipes for a song like "Lover of Mine". But this video tried to make her a sex object with that deadly cheesy miniskirt. Buried her neck-deep in the '80s. I'll to bet it was some male marketing suit who pitched the Lita Ford sex angle. Too much sex tends to bury female rockers. Should have gone the tougher Sheryl Crow, Chrissie Hynde, PJ Harvey direction.

This makes me want to go to her concert to rock on, but ppl like artists they can relate to or want to be like, and here she was portraying a dieing and played out 80's rocker. Back then we still loved the whole genre, but ppl at that time were looking for a change in music, and this was the same old 80's rocker theme.

What you say makes perfect sense.I first saw this video when my ex was stationed at Argentia,NFLD. In her prime tho those girls couldnt hold the stage with Alannah. No way. You know who else kicks ass? Sass Jordan. What ever happened to her? And the other question is; is that Etta James doing backup for Alannah? Whoever,she's pretty kickass,too. Some great rockers in the far north.

Alannah was queen. No one could pull off that rockin' hot leather-clad loose sexy strut like she could. She made men weak in the knees and girls jealous. A WOMAN, not some whispy-voiced baby-powdered ingenue... Anyone who says Alannah wasn't talented is sucking sour grapes. She had a voice second to none and her career lasted a respectable amount of time -- no "one hit wonder" here. Five stars, all the way...
