Honestly when I first heard The Wachowski Brothers and Speed Racer in the same sentence I immediately got a big smile on my face.I was thinking it was going to look like the Freeway chase in Reloaded. After seeing the Trailer it's very disappointing and so childish. I think the Wachowski brothers should stick with R rated films. It's more of there thing you know.

The grafics are good not because they're realistic, but because there effective. The special effects are designed to look like the anime. When you look at the anime, the races look odd and over the top and thats what they're doing for the movie. Now I admit the cgi looks a bit iffy at some spots, but isn't just about how real the special effects look, but how it is used.

I'm more concerned with how it looks. I understand that they may want to go more of the anime-ish style, but they need to dedicated themselves to it. When you look at the city race, and then the desert scene, there is a massive difference in the specular and terrain quality of the graphics. Its like they wanted realism in the city, but not in the desert.
I hope they shape their asses up.

Do you think they just make the special effects in a few hours. We havent even seen full races yet let alone the city, it still can still have that cartoonish looks. Like I said before, its not just about how real the special effects are, but how it is used. The Wachowski Brothers, who are directing this movie and directed the Matrix, know this. In the Matrix, you can tell what is done using wires or cgi, but it doesn't matter because they were used in a unique way.

I honestly think those faults might to the trailer editors and the out of context CGI. I will wait until another trailer or the film to be released. If it sucks, meh. If it doesn't good! Time will only tell...
