Ariel Atom with Banks Power

Video Description:
The heart of this guided missile is GM's stout 2.0 liter supercharged, all-aluminum Ecotec engine. The transmission, driveshafts and other components come from Chevy's Cobalt SS. At 205 horsepower the stock stuff is impressive, but with a GM stage 2 or 3 kit and a GM/Banks ECU calibrated with "special herbs and spices" for that extra punch the car's tires scar the black top with a trail of vulcanized fury. Actually, there's a pretty cool Opel 1.9 diesel Ecotec in Europe. I've see it with a sequential turbo setup. That engine in something this small would be a killer!

um... both the ecotec supercharged and vtec supercharged are available up to 300hp thru ariel... so relax. and on that note, the ecotec is better because of more low end torque

But ecotec has less revs and power is something like = [torque X rpm(radians)] so you must have a look at power curves of both engines to make a good comparison ;)

i understand that horsepower is a function of torque, but the ecotec has more torque, so it doesn't need the sky high redline. I really comes down to preference, and since this is a track car it doesn't really matter if you sit at redline all day. BUT, the ecotec will have a more usable powerband, and it'll pull through corners better

Yeah, right. It is also a matter of preferences: personally, I find boring those very-flat torque curve engines even if they're more effective through corners. I'd prefer a more ragor one with max torque at ending revs (= non-supercharged engines such as 2.0 Vtec, 3.6 flat 6 porsche, ...)
