They use alginate, which is a very rapid rubber like material. It comes in powder form and when mixed at around 1:1 with water it sets to a highly detailed mould. This happens in only 90 seconds and so its ideal for taking body casts. It is none toxic.

I have lost my eye, and the muscles, tissue, eye lids eyebrow. Do u know any one who can create a prothestic eye for me? I have heard of some people who lose thier eye and eye tissue and muscles to cancer, can have a clip on artifical eye with eye lids etc, that clip on to metal studs secured to the cheek bone. Can u please help me with any contacts you may know?

I've had an ocular prosthesis ever since I was four months old, thanks to cancer. I've had at least 4-5 eyes made (I think I'm on my 5th one right now). I have watched my current ocularist make 2 of my eyes and it never ceases to amaze me the amount of work that goes into making these. Thank you for posting this. Is this from the "How It's Made" episode?

great!!! i showed dis vid to my 6yrs old chn as we were investigating a project on human eyes...dey were so amazed with d end prdt and how the artificial eye really help those affected pple...thnk u soooo much for uploading...we watched it a few times too..
