You can't compare Portnoy and Haake. Portnoy plays progressive metal Haake plays technical death metal. They require different skills. It's unfair to compare them. Haake can play stuff Portnoy can't, and visa versa.

Dude, i'm a concert pianist, accompanist and a composer. i also came 1st in all my categories at birmingham festival of music last year. i probably know a fuck load more about theory than you ever will. Meshuggah DEFINITELY know a fuck load more about theory than you do. Don't be so up yourself, Meshuggah's sophistication lies in their rhythmic ability, not their harmonic ability. probably cause im seventeen. now heres the thing, i also compose and can do the exact same things you can, i know modal theory, and diatonic thoery. its beneath me because any band has to have rhythm, if they dont how do they play? you have to display something special in order to achieve a musical prowess, and i really dont care what you did on a piano in birmingham. and if you had any sense of what musicality is, you wouldnt even try to prove me wrong, and meshugga is only known in metal.
