To add onto that.. If a rat owner is too casual in their supervision and socializing method (which most are, sadly), or only permits a child to care for it, I would absolutely not recommend larger bar spacing. As far as cage cleaning goes, I recommend dawn original blue dish soap.

Exercise wheels aren't usually a need. The cage can be 1 inch wide for male rats when they are 3-4 months of age, while young and even older girls might escape. That is a terrible cage there, so small! And rats should not be kept solitary.

Also, you can use fleece or towel as the bedding. It works better than bedding. Use Yesterday's News in a litter pan. Rats can be toilet trained. This person is just being too busy.

Oh yes grab like this? You'll sure be ended up with a good injury ;) Rats HATE to be grabbed. And they would come up to you on their own. Obviously this rat isn't well taken care of.

Pine bedding is HORRIBLE! Do NOT USE PINE BEDDING! Pine and Cedar release phenols which are EXTREMELY damaging to a rats lungs!

C)She should have talked about how important good food is. That looked like Regal Rat...which rats tend to hate. ;[ Harlan Teklad is really the best company as far as rat food goes. D) You shouldn't have to pick up droppings every day because rats are easy to litterbox train. E)Fleece works much better than filling the whole cage with carefresh. I myself have each level lined with Fleece, and carefresh is used in the litterboxes. This seems to work great. F) The rat hates that bitch.

Oh my god she's a bloody tool. A) Wire wheels like that should NEVER be used for rats. Mesh wheels are more acceptable. B)Water dishes really aren't the greatest. Bottles are much more sanitary, in my opinion anyway.

That poor rat was all by his self. She didn't say anything about them being so social and need at LEAST a pair to be happy. And she shouldn't have a wheel for a rat. That poor rattie was terrified and she was trying to say she is well socialized!?!?! I hate to say it but this is an awful video and the girl doesn't know diddly squat about rats. If you don't know something then say "I don't know" don't just ramble on and say the wrong crap. Hopefully nobody has listened to anything she said =[

rats are so different to like guinea pigs or hamsters or anythin, you cant just generalise like that!
and pleeeeeeeeeeeease tell me thats a temp cage, as thats TINY for them!
also that wheel, you are never to use the ones with out a solid wheel as they can injure themselves!
