I agree with you all day long. The day that Mr. Marvin Gaye was shot down was a very sad day indeed. I am a man, a white man and I say these words with 100% sincerity. When the Commodores sing "The Night Shift" tears come to my eyes. This man had a style and voice that was top shelf. No, he was on top of the top shelf he was so good. And his voice sings on.

the internet story is that marvin tryed to commit suicide a couple of times while he was living with his parents (not because of abuse) and that he later got a fight with his parents and his dad shot him dead. Hes dad got 6 years because he had a huge braintumor which gave the judge the idea that this might not have happened if he would have been healthy. However if it is true that he tryed to kill himself a couple of times then you can say that his dad actually freed him.

one of marvin's friends has said after his dead that he actually committed suicide. He wanted dead but wasn't strong enough so he bought a gun for his father so that his father would do it for him. his father has said that if he would ever touch him that he would kill him and his friend said that this is the reason that marvin kicked his dad at the day he died, cause he was hoping that his dad would keap his promise. lets hope it went this way that would at least mean that marvin wanted to die.

There is no point in trying to figure any of his out. Marvin was a musical genius who did too much coke and maybe crack. Whatever happened after that, or because of that, will never make any sense, because the mind of a coke head or crack head never makes any sense. His Dad may have been strange, his upbringing may have been stange, and his baggage may have been heavy. But the evil drugs did him in, because he wasn't thinking clearly.

I was a Junior in High School when this came out Lol! You couldn't go nowhere in Your'' Ghetto'' at the time and not here this song. Got this album on Cd recently and been playing it since. It was a shock when He was killed. He'll always be alive in His music. Rest in peace Marvin.
