علامہ اقبال[Part 1]. This famous Urdu poem is written in 1911 at Lahore. Here Iqbal is complaining to Allah about the condition of Muslims. He was then a Professor of Philosophy at Government College, Lahore. A year later he wrote Jawab-e-Shikwah (Response to the Complaint). Shikwa (شک

Yeah the Shikva got him fatva-e-kufr or something, so to mellow out the opposition to his philosophy he wrote the javab-e-shikva but since it was an unwilling oevre d'art no wonder its pretty bland compared to this.

actually it is believed that the javaab doesn't have that bite in its tone. iqbal himself confessed it hadn't. my maternal grandfather who was a student at that time asked him this question and he replied something to the effect: 'shikvah to hum ne likha hai is liye jandaar hai, javab-e0shikvah jis ne likha hai uss se puchho' wittingly meaning the javaab is from the creator to man. i know i've zero quotable credibility but believe me if you so wish or not if you don't.

you are twisting Iqbal's message by trying to present him as a "moderate" poet. He clearly talks about infidels in the poem. Who are infidels? They are pagans. Sandy22theone: there is only one path to God. Its not humanity. Its a belief in one God. Surely, a God-loving human does not go on a rampage against the pagans. But when pagans seek to extinguish the "light" of God on Earth, the believers are told to eliminate them. Look at the events in their proper order.

"Kindness to the oppressor is oppression to the kind", if you study Islamic history its obvious to see they were not just pagans with a different ideology, so the Prophet(SAW) was told to massacre, this couldn't be further than the truth, they went into ALL battles for one of two reasons, because their land was invaded or their religion was being trampled.

There is alot of diffrence between Ghalib and Iqbal. Ghalib poetry is simple and easy to underdstand and mostly about love among humans. Iqbal is verstyle and has great depth in his poetry. One need a brain and undertanding to know Iqbal better. Just read his Shikwa and Jwabe Shikwa n you will know the diffrence between Iqbal and Ghalib.
Ghalib was great poet but there is no comparison between Ghalib n Iqbal. Iqabal is a poet , a philospher and great thinker while Ghalib is just a poet.

My dear Allama Iqbal was a great Muslim. He was Sunni. He was not Ahmadi or Qadyani.
Dont make stories from your ownself. Qadyanis and Ahmadis were sects created by some people out of greed. They were supported and funded by none-Muslim states as Great Britain and America. Qadyanis and Ahmadis are not Muslims. But we should not be against them as they are still humanbeings. Allah is to judge them on day of judgment we have not right to abuse them in anyway. We muslims should respect everyone.

I am bigger fan of Ghalib Than Iqbal..and same time i m bigger fan of Iqbal than Ghalib :) Actually in Urdu Poetry Iqbal is of his own kind.you can not compare it with others. in Farsi we have others also with this kinda poetrty, like Saa'di, Rumi etc.But in Urdu he is Alone.its Distinction of Iqbal.I listened from some gud poets of recent times who even dnt consider Iqbal as poet.the criteria of Urdu poetry(Ghazal)is abt woman,beauty, and other aspect of life which ve nothin 2 do wid real life

and really we cant find this kinda things in poetry of Iqbal..one day i was surprised to see Iqbal's own words. where he says "i have no interest in art of poetry,but for delivering my ideas i ve used the way of Poem".so after this we have no need to compare him with Ghalib..i like Ghalib so much for his poetry..but just consider one big fact Ghalib give us idea of leaving world and going to forest..for lover destroy urself. its very gud as poetry but not a thing for practical purposes.

but the poetry of Iqbal doesnt allow you to do this thing..he puts flame of fire in us to do our best for humanity. his love is not bound to a person.he looks a man as a mard e moman.. so dont try to compare these two person. ghalib's poetry was simple? either you've failed to acknowledge the underlying layers of his poetry or have understood it better than anyone in the last 200 years! ghalib was the supreme poet...his style is unmatched and he also said that ppl would never understand his work which was a huge frustration for him. his content was not just about love. iqbal was the supreme philosopher and in his own words, he was a philosopher before a poet.
