I tried pot and hated it, I'm a fanatical atheist, it's unlikely I could accomplish anything in life without anyone else's help but the government does not have to mandate said help for it to exist and happen nor should it, and I'm convinced that I could do and have done a great deal and will continue to make my own name for myself without being babysat by the U.S. government. As for provoking people, that may be partly true cause I was quite bored at the time.

"fanatical atheist". Your choice of words is funny. I've met some funny people, but you are winning, and by large. What's next? A "fanatical mathematician", a "fanatical genetician", a "fanatical biologist"? Sadly, without proper guide, the large portion of society would end up butchering themselves. I'm an anarchist in the original sense of the word, meaning i don't need anyone to tell me what's right nor wrong, but not all people is so advanced. In fact so far i've encountered only few.

Wrong: Chaplin, even if he was non-conformist, only wanted to do a few more movies. I put it simple: On politics: Chaplin was kind of neutral, sympathies with the left but never vote, non-conformist and against blind nationalism. On his work: He considered that comedians and clowns work should be above politics. The fun before, the rest after.. So the German Nazi hating him before the great dictator. After, Nazi accused Chaplin of being a Jew (Agnostic son of nonpracticing Anglican) and a communist. The FBI have also enquired on that and they fond no evidence of Jew ancestor.

He never voted because he said that in USA "voting" was not worthy. He considered comedians were more important than politicians, for they made people think, see things from another point of view and discuss. Not "fun before work". The FBI "investigated" Chaplin for "serious things", such as being "a revolutionary anarchist who was working for the communists to destroy the american way of life" (SIC, from his official file). He was of jewish ascendancy, but he was an atheist.

You can be fanatical about reason, or about science or concerning any field of knowledge
it's not hard nor does it sound that odd. When you take your learning and your understanding of reality to the next level where you strive to teach and to learn as much about said subject as possible. I don't really see any problem with my choice in words. As for your conception of the average American, I think you show a lack of faith in your fellow man, which is most lementable.

It's not that. It's just that if you think logically then all fanatism is simply not possible. Period. Fanatism implies a "faith", something that is beyond doubt and discussion, logics and by extension science can't be that way. "American" is a continent, while US citizens is what you want to mean; regarding the defect you call "faith", i have none. Maybe one day you'll evolve too.

more than socialist.. a HUMAN speech.. since the beginning of time it is known that man is a competitive animal, an animal that fights for survival unable to help one another in solidarity. Therefore we want to characterize ourselves or identify ourselves as belonging to a specific group/ ideology.. seperating us from each other even more. False labels like religion, poltical, gender, physiological differences merely a vehicle that will lead to our destruction.
