First of all,thanks to god8of8nz for posting these special a capella tracks.......a rare treat to be sure, from the group that raised the bar for vocal harmonies. These young California musicians did these little masterpieces while they were in their early to mid 20's. Along with Phil Spector and Motown, they WERE the sound of young America.
Long live the music from the original BOYS OF SUMMER. Again, thanks so much for sharing.

wow! I used to sing this song along with Brian through my Fender Bassman amp in the summer of 1966. It was set up in my parents garage and kids used to come by and join me. Finally met the Beach Boys and their mom, Audrey twice in 1995 and Brian in Hartford in 2001...great stuff! Carl was a great person..met with and talked with him twice!...even talked over the phone with Brian and Carl once in 1971, I called Brother Records and he was there!sweet! :-)

This is the original song's voice track (with Brian tracking himself of course)at the regular
speed. It is said that Brian's Dad thought it would sound better if the entire final mix was
pitched up (more "Beach Boy" like), so the
song you hear on "Pet Sounds" is a tad faster and Brian's voice higher.
Some have criticized this; but I feel Murry was right; sounds "sweeter" pitched up.But this does give you the "real thing" and it is Brian's voice at it's best.

Also note on the last line of lyrics, Brian
sings "Could I ever find in you again; THE
things that made me love you so much then".
On the final version; pitched up and with full
intrumentation; the word THE is buried and not audible; which still makes grammatic sense
so most lyric sheets to this day leave out
'the'. Totally irrelevant to the beauty of the song; but interesting to Pet Sounds
geeks like me.
