yes it does, this martial art is from north east part of India called Manipur, it has similarities with south India on how they use the weapons especially the sword, but it is true u might not see similarities because of the different weapons they use, but they're some similarities though.

I have got root there in North east and this guy is mixing the forms.
All martial arts have some similarity to how they use the weapons. South east asia has been long developing those artforms, yea only the chinese one gets more attention. But I am very much against the Indianisation of north east India. It has it own culture and sprit.
Thang ta has for ages been developed my its people yea it got influence and has influenced differnt art form.

Why i am calling this Manipuri Thang Ta - cuz i learn this from Khilton Nonghmaithen's explanation and representation forms. So - i do not make my own, i just follow tradition. In my own choreographical and emotional expressions, as it is allowed by tradition. Khilton and he's teacher had performed in London even Macbeth with Thang Ta movements.

Dear Monechee - there are no mixing forms. There are a movements, and principles of movements. And knowledge about this movements. Learn more about Vyetnamesis Khuay To tradition and slavic (russian) kazak martial arts, about viking sword movements and rajput movements with tulwar - this is not similarities, this is echo from one source...

Yea Thats understandable, art form evolve and change every time. Confusious said that change is the essense of life.
I practiced martial art but not as an art form but as self defence so yea for me it holds different meaning.

Sorry I went political with the subject, but the fact remains that part of the world is repressed with darconine rules, check out for Armed forces act where Inidan army can shoot to kill any person with out judicial enquiry, therefore I am against forced Indianisation of that part of the world.

I personally do not agree about "indianisation". And i am not "indian" or "hindu". I do not accept such therms - cuz they are political and NONVEDIC. Before name "india" was born, there was great vedic culture - and our ancestors was a part of it. And modern day India do not support their own great culture, they reject...

Self defense? Movements if they are for real will be the same - art this or self defence. When you go in fight - your body will produce movements what was "written" in. I know many so called "self defence" schools and technics who are actually fake, and are useless in the real fight where is no rules and no systems. There is no different meaning - how to handle sword in full force and with full power. Isn'it? Possible MOVEMENTS of body DO NOT EVOLVE, they ARE - you just should learn them.

Hmm I do not know I never looked at it that way. Maybe I am not an art person. Yea true in real fight there are no rules and its the beast who wins usually, because you hesitate to strike and the other does not then u are in trouble.

Yea its true, but yea we have our own culture, we migated from Northwest china . About Vedic I do not know , but I think in some of the vedic scripts they wrote bad things about us, I think we were a equated with asura.Dehumanising ur enemy is not a worthy thing.

Well so I think when the ancient vedic mithology talks about ape people , I think they are talking about the people in south india, and in a way its racist. and the asura (monster) is also a racist comment in the Mahabharat and ramayan.

All what i know from vedic scriptures, that from Manipur in the time of Mahabharata was coming great warriors and there where great kingdom with respected rulers. I have long time deep respect for unik traditions of Manipur, otherwise i will never learn Thang Ta - isn it? r-e-s-p-e-c-t. all what we need. and honest respectful relationships.

This is politicial ideology and propoganda of colonial demagogs - invaders. They follow princip - separate and rule! Asura - this is not national, racial or ethnical therm.
Your quoted missinterpretation made colonial time christian racists, who can not accept idea, that from "paganic" and "satanic" India, can come some more old and advanced culture... ehh... They try to wash wite their invasion with so called aryan invasion... brutal lies...

Yea I know about that, but I am not Manipuri. I know there are lots of worthy things in the Veda but as you said about the Great Vedas,I thought it was too one sided view.Everything has plus and minus, so I was pointing to the negative side.

No problems. I do not say Great Vedas, i said Great vedic culture. Old slavic, old baltic, old german ancestors followed the same vedic culture. They have their own traditions, but at the same time, they accepted vedas and vedic varnashrama dharma and cultivated them in theyr own traditions. Vedas means knowledge. Knowledge about existance (about architecture, warriorship, spiritual, health and etc. things).

Ashuras weren't the chinese or manipuri or anyone else. They were the rival pantheon of deities who were worshipped to the west of india. In persia, they were called Ahura (sh-->h, eg:sindhu-->hindu). Even in europe they were the Aesir/Aeshir (Odin, Thor, etc).
