Actually, I think it makes perfect sense. She's experienced life and realized that the material world is an unfulfilling place, that money doesn't equal happiness and I think that's why she's a big Kabbalah follower.

The video is anti-war but anti-capitalism and anti-hollywood in its lyrics. To be honest anyone with as much money as Madonna would definately be a captalist, it is not hypocritical, she can't start a one-woman revolution against America, Britain and other "democratic" countries.

Do you mean, she should have censored the vid instead of making a new one for this song? Or do you think this is how it was shown on tv? She withdrew this version a few weeks after its release.. and replaced it with her singing the song against a series of flags.
Regardless of the content, this vid is more appealing and provokes a personal response...

This video wasn't censored. Madonna pulled this video down after the war in Iraq began because, as she said through PR Liz Rosenberg, she wanted to respect the troops. Madonna had no idea while she was making the video that it would be a prophesy of the war that would follow. Personally this video helped me when I was feeling low: I felt like everyone wanted me to be something, but never helped me. She didn't offer a solution, but it made me angry enough to stop my eating disorder.

I really thought it was inspiring, tho I don't understand much of the song itself. She's right: people glamorize war so much; like all the fashion with the camo and stuff. Why promote it? Every time someone who has been affected by war in any way sees that it's more like a public statement of "wow, war is cool." It's true people laugh about wars, especially about the M-Eastern peoples and how Muslims are all terrorists, or at least many people of my generation.
