It's not Ballroom ... ( 3 months ago by MichaelSalsa75)
It's not Ballroom Tango at all. The steps and body position/posture are definately Argentine Tango. If you mean 'classical' tango in the sense that it's not improvised, I agree. But let's face it... there are many types of Argentine Tango and as much as I love and respect the Carlos Gardel era, it's great to see that some dancers actually evolve and bring it to another level..Great choreography.
Well, tango dancers ... ( 3 months ago by PensaloBien)
Well, tango dancers DID take tango to another level, but that's called tango salon (since you mean 'evolution from the time of Gardel') and then tango nuevo. It is NOT this imitation. If you want to see good tango choreographies search Miguel Angel Zotto and Milena Plebs, if you want to see the evolution since Gardel, well, you need to do a lot more watching of tango videos on youtube.

I would answer you, but "pensaloBien" already did. Only thing I can assure you is that you have no Idea about Argentinian classic Tango. This thing you see here has its origin in France. And Carlos Gardel "era" -as you call it- makes no sense. Carlos Gardel was in France as well, and THIS performance is the french version of tango although evolved, but has -very little to nothing- to do with "Tango Rioplatense".
Come on man...Tango ... ( 2 months ago by MichaelSalsa75)
Come on man...Tango Ballet, Ballroom Tango, French Tango?!?! Respectfully, you are the one who has no idea about Ballroom Tango if you think this is it. Ballroom tango is part of the STANDARD dances in Dancesport and has NOTHING to do with this choreography. Honestly, do you look at this choreography and NOT recognize Argentinean Tango steps?! And if you carefully read my words, i agreed with you that it was NOT 'classical' tango. The Carlos Gardel reference was just to mark the time since then.
I'd like to ask you ... ( 2 months ago by Gmmaverick)
I'd like to ask you were are you from. Because to pretend that this is "Argentinian Tango" it HAS TO BE a foreign person. The fact that Argentinians DO dance this type of tango in official and/or international competitions, or in the streets of "La Boca" or "Palermo" TO ENTERTAIN TURISTS, doesn't mean that's "Argentinian Tango" AT ALL! The "Carlos Gardel time" has NOTHING to do with the differences that ALWAYS existed in Tango dancing between France and Argentina!

this is most certainly NOT argentine tango. And they are only the so called british champions because they won some mickey mouse competition that took place at negracha tango club in london. i was there; it was terrible. Have there been other professional dancers at the competition they wouldn't have stood a chance. They are excelent dancers but not of argentine tango.

These two are excellent dancers. Even they dance Argentine Tango with ballroom flavors (I won't be surprised if they are or were ballroom champions.), but it doesn't matter. What I like about them is the passion and enthusiasm they have displayed. Argentine Tango (AT) may have been the new discovery of this couple. I can feel they truly love this dance. I wish them "Good Luck" in pursuing AT. And I'd like to see more AT from them in the future. I'm sure they'll become better and better!
They are World ... ( 2 months ago by samtriplethreat)
They are World Argentine Tango SHOW champions and that is where the confusion lies. It is part of the world AT comps but it comes under the name on TANGO FANTASIA where it is choreographed as the couples have to put lifts into the routine. It would be highly dangerous to put so many lifts in if it wasn't choreographed.
They also did this routine for TV so needed it to be flashy and not social 'leading and following' AT.
If you were to see them dance social AT I think you would enjoy them.

they are actually world champions and if u knew anything about dance then u would know that this is most definately ARGENTINE TANGO!
Whilst I share ... ( 2 months ago by tang0ang3l)
Whilst I share everyone view that Flavia and Vincent are excellent dancers, I insist, what they do is not argentine tango. This is show dancing with a some elements of AT in it. Another thing, to be world champions they would've had to compete at the Tango World Championships in Buenos Aires and win there; which they haven't done...

The were given the title of British Argentine Tango Champions when they took part and went all the way through at an amateur competition that took place at Negracha tango club in London. Two out of the tree judges at this competition turned out to be their tango teachers who were extremeley keen to see them win. That's all. If you want to see the real World Tango Champions (in different categories), please search on this site. There are several entries.Let's give credit where credit is due.
holy crap people... ... ( 2 months ago by lilangel0072)
holy crap people...u guys are so uptight...why is it that in every AT video where there is a jump u immidiately say "oh this isn't argentinian tango" just because it's not classical..things IMPROVE and change throughout the years, everything EVOLVES why can't u see it this way...they dance breathtakingly, they don't spend hours training just so you can tell them that their dance is all wrong.. frankly ppl who say that it's not AT simply say it because they can't dance like them..

One more thing, I did not notice that there is a video posted as response by PensaloB... and that's all I'm talking about, you see this couple and you feel they are dancing "The Tango" as we know, not all that jumping and circus acrobatics, watch carefully and you will find the difference. BTW they are Geraldine Rojas and Javier Rodriguez, sadly now they separated and not longer dancing together but always will be one of the greates dancing couples of all times forever. Cheers

I'm saddened to see that there is so much "huss and fuss" about if this real or not. I am no expert, but the dance is indeed flashy, beautiful, and made to be a spectacle. I will do more research on real tango, but whether you like it or not....can one really deny if this is not beautiful? I'm I alone in this thought? I love it all. Dancing is my favorite expression.
Argentine tango is ... ( 2 weeks ago by ladyhawk55)
Argentine tango is many things- this is a show argentine tango(called fantasia in Buenos Aires)- and wonderfully fun to watch. Social argentine tango( salon) is challenging to learn and thrilling to dance also- but it is different from leaps, kicks, drops and bends which would cause quite a mess on a crowded social dance floor.
