Mpg city figures for the 5 cylinder H3 vary from 13-16 mpg which is nothing special for an SUV. My car get close to 30 mpg in town. Sure, the H3 isn`t as bad as an H2 or H1 but still, compared to mid class sedan, it uses more gas for sure because of a hefty curb weight and heavy + large tires, that hurt city fuel economy as well as bad aerodynamics that decrease highway mileage.

GSRGOPEDRIDER247, you are PARTIALLY right. The Hummer H3 does get significantly better gas mileage than the Hummer H1 and H2. The H3 gets 15 while the H1 and H2 get about 9 or 10, but still, 15 is still pretty low. The average SUV, considering all fuel-efficient SUV's and gas guzzlers, gets 17 miles per gallon. Hummers are bad for the environment. Most people refer to "Hummer H2" when they say Hummer, as you might know. All are bad, but you're right, one is bad and the other two are horrible.

i think hummers are nice suv's. the jeep grand cherokee gets 1 more mpg than the h3. we have a hummer h3 and we love it. it's our "clean" car. we have a dodge magnum as a company car and we drive it on company gas. i love the looks of the h3's too. i do think that they can't haul that much cargo though. the seats don't fold flat either.

go rent a h3 even with the 3.7 liter and go off road and see before you run your mouth and then go buy the h3 alpha with 5.3 liter if you can afford it! then you will have the ultimate in suv world. ive tried out all off road vehicles and hummer is the best stock suv ever!

Don't get me wrong the hummer is a great off-road vehicle.
However, buy a Jeep Wrangler of the same year and spend the $8000 on upgrades and you will have: -Higher clearance for larger tires. -More Articulation (Solid front and rear Axles). -Shorter Wheel base for maneuverability. And many more upgrades including maybe a locker system. Even with the 3.7
L engine its still not an economically friendly vehicle. Also, the H3 just looks like a 4-door jeep lol.
