Instead of this rush to hybrids, it'd be much better if they put more thought into clean high-performance diesels. Diesels get good gas mileage, they have hella-massive performance figures if tuned right, there are no massive and expensive batteries to replace, and Audi and Peugeot have both proven that they can handle quite a bit of punishment in performance. Besides, you get to keep the beastly exhaust growl.

All sounds GREAT, if only the Wheel motors from PML used in the Volvo actually WORKED!! The performance figures are a figment of PMLs imagination as (according the their own web site) none of their wheel motor prototype cars has EVER run under their own power. You'd expect a small car like a Mini/Volvo with a claimed 650hp and 3000NM to do much better than 4 sec 0-60. LOL
