It has 10 strings. Yepes realised that the harmonics you got playing all tones were incomplete, so by adding 4 extra strings he created a harmonic sympathy for every note. Hence his beautiful shimmering tone. Hope this explains it..

It is a 10 string guitar. In an interview was said that he came up with this guitar because when he was studing and transcribing old song pieces the only possible way for one guitar player to actually perform was through this 10 string guitar. Also there were old pieces played by 2 different string instruments so a 10 string was a perfect solution.
