So all microsoft employees might one day refuse to work because they want a 20% pay rise. Not because they are 20% more productive, but because they are collectively bullying their employer to raise their salary. Also unions can demand to work less hours, have longer holidays, and break any other
contractual agreement they intially signed up for when they started day 1 on the job.
Im choosing to invest in land, i may decide that i want to chop down all the trees, but if i did my land would die and wouldnt give me much return on the lumber i took.
However if i manage the land and produce more lumber, employ tree surgeons to manage the forest against disease, sue people who litter or try to kill wildlife on my property... then i am doing far more than any government office would care to do.
In which case i would dig it up and build houses. This is location dependant, people arent going to turn the amazon into a car park or hotel complex because there is no demand for homes there, the land is fertile and is good for food and lumber, it contains unique wildlife, so economic sense suggests it would be far more profitable to use it for those purposes.
Thats what charities do, business start to make money.
They just happen to have a positive effect by employing people and providing goods and services.
If you start a business you wont pay burger flippers $10/hr when they can only produce $7/hr. You pay them up to $7/hr or NOT at all. Why should the government force you to go out of business by making you paying staff more than they are worth?
The young, the old, the homeless, the mentally slow, the disabled.
They cannot produce enough with their skills to justify hiring. So they dont get jobs, they either rot on the streets, claim from the govt, or worse. So few people earn min wage, if you are 40 yrs old and still earn it, you are a disgrace. You have spent your whole life at work, and developed no
skills to lift you above that mark when others have.
You agree to do a job, if either you or employer break that agreement then you can sue/leave/fire/. Unions make it hard for many people who just want to work. One guy who wanted to teach another science class to earn extra money was prevented by his union, simply because it was additional to hi
s contract..i mean so what? It was his choice, why can he not work extra hours?
Well anyway you raise some very interesting points so I guess I'll have to take a look at all this in a different light (I'm not going to down everything you say as fact though, no offense). But what of the wetlands that really do protect communities from storms. Shouldn't those be the exception
to the rule?
I guess it was naieve of me to think everything was that simple.
Can't I just keep a stockade of rifles and never take them out of the house?
I study economics at uni, ive read politics, philosophy and econ for years and i really do have a good understanding of the issues. If you feel that im so incorrect then dont hide behind the comment ratings, just speak up and discuss the issues. Im sure i could easily knock up some videos explain
ing the models and reasons so you can see visually why such policies are harmful. Ignorance wont get you anywhere
You are referring to anarcho-libertarianism in which there is not even a govt or law court and people solve disputes with the second amendment. There is absolutely no taxes in this system, but its not a popular ideology since it pretty much ends civilisation lol
[resp. to bc9021010011: "Neo-Con Republican = no Social Security, no labor unions, no minimum wage, no worker safety regulations, no universal health care, no environmental protection, no regulation of corporations, no civil rights protections, no antitrust laws. Libertarian = same as above, but
you can get high and fuck whatever you want."]
