I know a lot of people are going to get really riled up by this but I'm telling the truth about what happened and stating what I believe because I think it's the right thing to do and I think travelers (especially youtubian travelers) should know and be prepared for the possibility of what happened to me happening to them also if they are thinking of traveling to the states in today's world.
Judging alone by the dozens of mails I have received from travelers all over the globe in the past week telling me stories that in some cases are much worse then my own, it is clear to me this is not some freak isolated incident. And that is sad. I realize Homeland Security have an important job t
o do. All I ask.. and I think you should ask.. is that they DO that job thoroughly and with respect to their fellow human beings. The two officers that dealt with me did not. This is mostly about those officers.. NOT America. I'm not anti-american. I am anti-idiocy. Some super happy US travel ti

| The worst thing is there doesn't seem to be a damn thing I can do about it.. The best I can hope for is to get my name cleared and travel status returned to normal and even with all the help in the world that is going to take many months and a lot of fight. It really does suck. |

| Sorry to hear about what happened, mate. Personally, I think you should sue, at least for the cost of the air ticket, but much more for the humiliation and harassment. I believe there are many U.S. lawyers who would be willing to take this case for you on consignment. In the U.S. there are many rambos who act like this, whether Homeland Security or regular police. A good lawsuit usually helps them act properly. You may be helping the next person out by doing so.... Apologies from an American. |

| Also, while not an excuse, it would be worth noting that there's a high concentration of Muslims in Dearborn, Michigan, right outside of Detroit. So someone flying directly into Detroit might raise suspicions (most foreigners fly into L.A. or San Francisco or New York or Miami). Again, not an excuse. But just something that might have been a factor. |

| I would start with contacting the ACLU at ACLU(dot)org, and go from there. If they can't help you, they might be able to refer you to someone who can. And, if a lawyer took the case, it would definitely not put you out of pocket, since they would work on consignment. I'm not a lawyer. But I don't see why you wouldn't be able to sue due to mistreatment, regardless of your citizenship. Good luck with it! |
