You might want to check the precedents of Presidents who commuted sentences handed down by judges THEY appointed to people convicted of perjury and obstruction that protected members of that same President's administration.
There is the letter of the law but there is also a thing called the spirit of the law.
You might want to look into that.

Umm...NONE of those people that he pardoned were ever IN his administration and sought to do what Libby did and not have any regret about it. All those pardons were done after jail time had been served. Plus, why are we doing this "oh, but CLINTON did it" thing? SO WHAT?! That was then, THIS IS NOW!! Bush is the one that is being blamed for this and everything he touches. If that is the only card you can possibly play anytime Bush is criticized, then you have a LONG game ahead.
