| that is not correct! The violin had played its role within the classical orchestra because its tone was louder and longer than the guitar-tone. After electrification the roles changed ! The guitar with all its variations is much superior to the violin what did Paganini say? "I am the master of violin and the guitar is my teacher" This was related to the possibilities of polyphonic guitar music before electrification something a violin-player can only dream of !! |

| I wouldn't say, they were on so much of an ego trip as playing at these speeds was not so common those days. They still were pushing the boundaries of the human hand. It was an important developement. Still nowadays it would quite possibly be just pretentious, but it's not only fast, it was innovative back then. |
