| I don't think he ever did. He was purely a rhythm guitarist. All lead guitar breaks were taken by Earl which is actually why he wore the strap on his right shoulder. That way when they played gigs, he could switch to guitar and not have to take off his hat or knock it off getting the strap over his head. Still, to me, Flatt & Scruggs (and the Stanley Brothers), not Bill Monroe, defined bluegrass. |
