Tough Tootsies of the Eighties No. 10

Video Description:
PLEASE READ THIS - This is the second of four clips from one of my all-time favourite Tough Tootsies films, "Phoenix, the Warrior", from 1988. This movie was renamed "She-Wolves of the Waste land" when it was released on DVD recently, but I have chosen to preserve the title it had when I first discovered it ten years ago.
It has all of the essential ingredients for an 80s Tough Tootsies post-apocalyptic masterpiece - it is incredibly silly; it almost has an all-female cast; the costumes are brief (and ridiculous); the hair is big; the hammy performances are laughable; all manner of female to female violence is empl
oyed (guns, knives, fists, swords, axes, rocket launchers), sometimes very clumsily; and it is a feast of eye candy from go to woe. The film was directed by Robert Hayes and starred Kathleen Kinmont, who is the daughter of Abby Dalton, star of "The Saga of the Viking Women and Their Voyage to the W
aters of the Great Sea Serpent" (honest!). See Fifties Cheesecake Dance No. 9. The nasty Cobalt was played by Persis Khambatta, an Indian model who is best remembered as Lt. Ilia in "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" (1979). The Reverand Mother was played by Shiela Howard, who also played the role of
Badger, one of Cobalt's tough gang. She's the one who delivers the line, "She killed Riptide and Whiplash. Now they've headed out into the desert." in Tough Tootsies of the Eighties No. 10. Keela was played by Peggy Sanders (aka Peggy McIntaggart), and she delivers some of the worst lines in the
film (and that's saying something). Laurie de Nuccio, who played Neon in the arena scene (see Tough Tootsies of the Eighties No. 11), was the daughter of a bodybuilder who went on to win many bodybulder titles of her own in the mid-1980s. The only male in the cast, James Emery, appeared in John Ca
rpenter's "Escape from New York" (1981) with Kurt Russell. I am always looking for new ideas for this series. If you have any suggestions please don't hesitate to drop me a line.
