Bitter Creek (1973) by the Eagles featuring Bernie Leadon

Uploaded by: mcphert1
Video Description:
Not the Eagles' best known song, or album from which it came (Desperado), but both are favourites of mine. To me, the Eagles' first few albums were special, not only for the music, but also because it was before the they became huge (at least here in Australia). With Desperado, my friends and I thought we were in on something quite brilliant that most others did not know about (maybe not quite correct...).
A big part of that early Eagles sound was Bernie Leadon, singer, guitar/banjo player and songwriter, and they were never quite the same to me when he left. I have had fun making this video, incorporating images which are hopefully appropriate to the song. Comments would be appreciated.

Having got into the Eagles late, not until the blue eagle skull greatest hits album, I didn't know about this tune till I bought the Desperado CD. It immediately grabbed me.
Excellent job, great visuals, mcphert!

I've always liked the Eagles, but the original lineup of Frey, Henley, Meisner, Leadon and later, Felder, were when they were at their best; unvarnished. This was especially evident to me on their first three albums, produced and engineered by Glyn Johns, who was identifiable by his dark, minimalist approach to recording, in stark contrast to the high-tech style of Bill Szymczyk. I'd like to see the original group get back together and tour...whad'ya say, gents?

very well done, thanks man! manages to capture the atmosphere of the song and this period in time (72) beautfully. its one of my favourite Eagles songs too and i totally agree with what the maker of this video says about the Eagles being at their best at this time - before their big successes. I think Desperado wasnt a big success at that time - and definitely not compared to later hitalbums.

My very favorite Eagles track. Bernie was the proverbial unsung heroes of the band. Henley and Frey were great, but without Bernie and Randy, I don't think the band would have done nearly as well. What diversity! Thanks.

Wonderful video to a magical song from an album that must surely have been the zenith of their musical career, closely better than Hotel California. Thanks for posting this unique song.

The thing i love about the Desperado album and about The Eagles in general is there ability to Have songs like Twenty-One, such a country style song and for it to blend so seamlessly into Out Of Control which is such a hard rock song. They are just astounding.Best Band Ever.

Love the acoustic playing towards the end of this song! Their coolest recording! Did the original foursome have too much talent between them? Is that why they could not last?
