They do have a real job. There job is to enforce the law. That is what they are doing when they book you for 2 grams of weed. If you are under 18 they can hold you and take you to the station. That is until you are released into your parents custody. Read the Youth Offenders Act if you are not sure what the police are doing is right. Also your dumbass buddies shouldn't mouth off to the police. It can be the difference between getting a ticket and going to jail.

acctually you are wrong. they cant take you to station if your under 18. i know because they booked me twice. once with over 30 grams and they just take me home in cuffs. tell my parents and tell me the court date. second off if someone is under 18 in ontario atleast you dont goto jail the worst thing is brookside which is like a summer camp. 2 grams of weed is the dumbest thing to book someone for because that is just 20 dollars of the drug market.

actually being booked means being taken in to the police station and having a booking record filled out, that is why it is called "being booked" because you are "booked" into a holding cell. what normally happens is you are let go with a ticket or promise to appear and released to your parents or legal guardians. certain things in my previous statement were not correct.

it is up to the police what happens. there are certain things they can and can't do. it all depends on the case. the police can exercise their own discretion in these situations. if you are under 18 you can be detained section 31 of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. but possession under 30 grams is a summary conviction offence found in section 4 subsection 2 of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act weed is referred to as Schedule VIII.
