Vietnam Bomb Run

Video Description:
The McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II is a two-seat supersonic long-range all-weather fighter-bomber originally developed for the U.S. Navy by McDonnell Douglas. In service from 1960 to 1996, the Phantom became the primary air superiority fighter and a workhorse fighter-bomber for the US Air Force, Navy and Marines during the Vietnam war. Having served with the armed forces of 11 other nations, as of 2001, more than 1,000 F-4s remained in service around the world.Entering service in 1960, the F-4 was designed as the first modern fleet defense fighter for the U.S. Navy. By 1963, it had been adopted by the U.S. Air Force for the fighter-bomber role. When production ended in 1981, 5,195 Phantom IIs had been built, making it the most numerous American supersonic military aircraft. Until the advent of the F-15 Eagle, the F-4 also held a record for the longest continuous production with a run of 24 years. Innovations in the F-4 included an advanced pulse-doppler radar and extensive use of titanium in the airframe.
Despite the imposing dimensions and a maximum takeoff weight of over 60,000 pounds (27,000 kg), the F-4 was capable of reaching a top speed of Mach 2.23 and had an initial climb rate of over 41,000 feet per minute (210 m/s). Shortly after its introduction, the Phantom set 16 world records, includi
ng an absolute speed record of 1,606.342 miles per hour (2,585.086 km/h), and an absolute altitude record of 98,557 feet (30,040 m). Although set in 1959-1962, five of the speed records were not broken until 1975. The F-4 could carry up to 18,650 pounds (8,480 kg) of weapons on nine external hardpo
ints, including air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles, and unguided, guided, and nuclear bombs.

Me for exmple. I care about so much people suffering cause of such a terrible war. How do you know that they all have been commies? And even if they
´ve been commies, it doesn´t meen that it is okay to kill them. It was war yep that´s true. But it would have been quit easy to end it. The US kept the war going, not the commies.

"Upon taking control, the Vietnamese communists banned all other political parties, arrested public servants and military personnel of the Republic of Vietnam and sent them to reeducation camps. The government also embarked on a mass campaign of collectivization of farms and factories. Millions of people fled the country in crudely-built boats, creating an international humanitarian crisis."

and because they are so poor the americans bombed all the civilian areas? not being free is a general problem. its in the us too. "freeing" the people is not an argument. try to go to wall street and demonstrate against capitalism->you will get arrested. you are not free so, shall we (germany (europe)) come, bomb US cities and then spend millions of euros for helping them? in saudi arabia people are slaughtered for the plesure of their king, but nobody cares about it. ...

It was the communist North which invaded the South which was ruled by a corrupt government.
The Americans went in at the request of the South. The US feared communism more than dictators. Either way the Vietnamese people who were the losers.
"In war, there is no win"

Think wisely and don't write emotionally people. The deal was the North invaded the South. The North did some horrible things no doubt but there was no free press to report it which is why many of you fools can easily say US bad etc.

Talk to a vet. Now the South was corrupt and many people over there wanted to stay out of it but the US got involved and it became what it was. It can be summed up as nobody won, the South was letting the US run the show, the North was more determined than the South and we got more and more caught up in it. Most of the people in Vietnam wanted to just live so the whole thing's a shame. We need to protect major allies such as Britain etc., not third world countries who don't know what's up.

very true, nobody is a saint. but its not USA business what other countries do, the only reason is for their own advantage, not for their so called allies, (or as i would say BOOTLICKERS). the best example is georgia. im pretty sure the CIA told the pres. of georgia that little area is ur's rite?? take it, we got ur back. but ofcourse they knew russia would not hold back, but thats what they want because its another excuse to boost the weapons industry. vietnam and iraq is same more or less
