HUGO CHAVEZ by Greg Palast. Part 1 of 3

Video Description:
"TENS OF THOUSANDS OF VENEZUELANS OPPOSED TO PRESIDENT HUGO CHAVEZ..."
The caption let us know this South American potentate was a killer, an autocrat, and the people of his nation wanted him out. The caption continued: "[Venezuelans] marched Saturday to demand his resignation and punishment for those responsible for 17 deaths during a coup in April. 'Chavez leave no
w!' read a huge banner." There was no actual story in the Chronicle -- South America simply isn't worth wasting words on -- just the photo and caption. But the Chronicle knew no story was needed. Venezuelans hated their terrible president, and all you needed was this photo to prove it. And I could
confirm the large protests. I'd recently returned from Caracas and watched 100,000 march against President Chavez. I'd filmed them for BBC Television London. Armed Madhouse Greg Palast Hugo Chazez Venezuela Oil Economy You'd think George Bush would get down on his knees and kiss Hugo Chavez's beh

In my interview with the president of Venezuela on March 28, he made Bush the following astonishing offer: Chavez would drop th

er oil and stick it up his pipeline. Before I explain why Bush has done so, let me explain why Chavez has the power to pull it off — and the method in the seeming madness of his "take-my-oil-please!" deal. Venezuela, Chavez told me, has more oil than Saudi Arabia. A nutty boast? Not by a long sho
t. In fact, his surprising claim comes from a most surprising source: the U.S. Department of Energy. In an internal report, the DOE estimates that Venezuela has five times the Saudis' reserves. However, most of Venezuela's mega-horde of crude is in the Continue reading 'George Bush Should Get Down o

You think its good to "live years ahead" when to acomplish that you need to sacrifice millions of human lifes? well-, the war has actually been terrible for our economy in the long run. We also don't "need" the war. We had a stupid president and he made a big mistake. However, democratic institutions are still running here, we still have industry, and we still have personal freedoms...unlike Venezuela.

well...actually.. ive been here before Chavez was elected. But nice try. No. The reason I bitch and moan is because for hte first time ever, my family and friends back in Venezuela are waiting in long lines to buy basic food products that are in short supply, all but one of them has been mugged at least twice because crime has up since chavez has taken power, and we have a dictator in power.
Please.. if you don't know what you are talking about don't insult me.

That does not justify your support of a COMPLETELY corrupt tyrannical government. Don't insult me by saying that because Americans are appeased with 'bread and circuses' that this somehow equals democracy. As bad as food rations are perhaps you have never heard of a Bolivia town called Cochabamba.
Completely corrupt ... ( 1 week ago by pacificguitarist)
Completely corrupt tyrannical government? What? The united states IS the pinnacle of a democratic republic. All reports about Venezuela have stated that democracy has been seriously hampered if not completely destroyed. I do not understand what you are trying to say?

i AM from Venezuela. Born in Caracas and family in Valencia. I have SEEN the demise of my country and the oppression of the people since Chavez has taken power. Industry is gone, democratic institutions abolished, and there are lines to buy basic food products.
