u see the same that I am seeing. These rappers get on and don't give sh!t back to the people who got them success. They do this because they are admitted in as long as they sign contracts to not give back 2 certain communities and organizations. Did you know that? One in particular is Lil Wayne. He made a whole 360 from dope pushin to how much money he has. I say well give some back niga!
Hotep!

I saw the same b.s. when I went to school. Just because the black kid doesn't want to act like a gang banger or wear clothes that wouldn't get him in the door of an interview...hes a "sell out" or "white boy". So by blacks assuming that people like this "act white", all you are saying is "whites" are the general success story by their actions. You contradict your views with your dumbass statements. Fuck the whole hip hop culture. Its killing the black race ethically. damn character limit

And this is EXACTLY what drives AA's ( I refuse to be called black because it has derogatory origins) people away from supporting their race...why the heck do all AA's have to be lumped in with some ghetto smack talking ignorant babymama gold teeth wearing rapper? I don't have anything in common with them and I refuse to be associated with that kind of ignorance!

I have so much I ... ( 1 week ago by davisismail1comcast)
I have so much I want to say on this subject, but first I would like to commend the Brotha OBABMI for having the courage to present this dialogue that deals with our identity. I also want to say that I dont agree with all of his points of view, but on the other hand some of them are quite valid. This is my vantage point I was a teenager in the late eightys when this phenomenon called street culture/urban culture was taking root.
There was three ... ( 1 week ago by davisismail1comcast)
There was three points of view from my demographic when hip hop was becomming the rage. There was fun Hip Hop, Conscience hip hop, then the dreaded Gangster hip hop . The irony of it all was that this musical art-form was design to keep black youth some what captivated and away from street life. I at the time was listening to other forms of African American music: Jazz,Soul,Funk, U.K Soul ,and something called elctronic soul and funk which would later become a catalyst for hip hop.
It was'nt till ... ( 1 week ago by davisismail1comcast)
It was'nt till Conscience Hip Hop came on the scene that I actually took a close look at this art form. To me this genre I could relate to, because to me it was the most creative, and it had something to say. My point is this, within the black demographic the late 80's early 90's there was this paradiam shift. Some how some where street culture became exciting across the board for a great deal, but not all of us. Their were those of us who knew the history of the industry(machine).
Corporate America ... ( 1 week ago by davisismail1comcast)
Corporate America starting paying attention, when cats like Public Enemy, and KRS1 were selling major numbers without major airplay, and was making waves in a positive way that woke the conscience of African Americans, and thoes outside our demographic as to what was taking place. The Ivory Tower wanted nothing to do with that genre of Hip Hop because the light was being turn on in the brains of many. They instead took the most devisive, deviant, and most destructive genre within the Medium.

There are two kinds ... ( 10 hours ago by PublicEnemySucka)
There are two kinds of African Americans: There are the black people and then there are the NIGGAS. It's the niggas who claim that successful black people are selling out. I believe it's said out of jealousy. They don't see the rappers who have sold black women down the drain by over sexualizing them as sell out (which they should), they see the well educated blacks as selling out. You have to ignore them and keep doing you.
