Hi Fastwolf32!If you're interested to be a good animator, you have to do it!I'm actually on class 2,and I'm learning tons of things! My advice is to be able to use Maya, if you want to animate in 3D.

Art institute, ... ( 9 months ago by 3Deditor)
Art institute, Vancouver film school, animation mentor have great teachers, but lack one vital ingrediant. All the animations use the same characters with very similar expressions from every student. I think if anyone is going to pay a huge amount of money, they should atleast allow & encourage the students to develope and explore their own creativity with their projects as they are given the tools to work with. That would be worth the money then!
As a former student ... ( 9 months ago by kimotion)
As a former student I can say that most students use the same rigs so that we spend the majority of our efforts on character animation, rather than modeling and rigging. However, AM does not discourage students from making their own models. The focus of the program is purely on animation itself.

its an animation course, animation mentor... not character development mentor, or character design mentor... think.
I completly ... ( 8 months ago by 3Deditor)
I completly understand that the school is based on teaching mainly the animation aspect. Although boring to watch the same characters and style of animation after a while, the animation is well done. Variety would be nice to see from every student, otherwise every student basically shares what appears to be the same portfolio.
I respectfully ... ( 8 months ago by Suetheanimator)
I respectfully disagree. They DO encourage individual creativity, and there is a wide variety of acting styles among students. A student is free to create and use their own model if they wish. However, Animation Mentor focuses on teaching just animation. What better way to learn than to be provided a professionally rigged model and just be able to focus on animating? It really encourages working on the acting to distinguish your animation rather than concentrating on character design.

I did some research on this abit, on the website if you follow the links to the blogs some students go on to work in the film industry. Dreamworks, bluesky, reel fx is mostly where I saw recent grads from AM.

how are the salaries?
can u make a good living out of it?
ahh...i have a feeling when u become an animator its like.."bye bye life" and "hello cubicle"... u spend all the time on the computer...and dont have chance to see the outdoors alot... just a hunch
Hey eladbari If ... ( 6 months ago by jamespearson)
Hey eladbari If your asking about money, you're looking at the wrong career. Being an animator isn't about that at all. Oh, and it's completely the opposite. Being an accountant is more like that.. "bye bye life" and "hello cubicle"...
janespearson is ... ( 6 months ago by mysticanimation22)
janespearson is right, if you think of money before the art, then your thinking the wrong career. money does very but it's all about the art and having fun.
And if you want to know what it's like, look at the special features on the DVD's. It normaly shows the behind the scenes. Check out ratatouille, The Ant Bully, and God of War 2. They show what artist do for fun. You may be behind a computer but at least it's flexible hours.
I went to an art ... ( 6 months ago by mysticanimation22)
I went to an art institute too. I had to take modeling and rigging but the thing is, it's a whole different feild. It takes a long time just to know how to model and rig correctly. I focused strictly on animation. Plus when you're in the feild you have people modeling and rigging for you. It's true, it gets kina boring watching the same character but it's fun to see how each person handles that character in their own way.

Hey mystic!
i know it sounded pretty bad-what ive said there. im all about the art, thats what it all about, and i know u gotta have alot of passion for it...
but in my case, i have more reasons for choosing this path of animation. I wanna try to move to the U.S-legaly. Therefore i wanna know if Animation could supply me with a good living as id have to manage there on my own. Plus...i wonder if its tough to find a company that will hire me [if im good
] even that im not from the U.S.
hey,buddy! :] thanx ... ( 1 month ago by eladbari)
hey, buddy! :] thanx for the serious reply :] well, i don't wanna appear as one who looks only on money, and doesnt care bout the art. im all about being creative, technical, getting better with each project, etc. BUT,im being realistic as well, and i have other things on my mind. i want to move to the U.S,but it seems like id need a job that will enable me to eat,and to have a house :] theres alot at stake, and im afraid ill make a mistake.i just dont know how to figure if animation is for me :\
