A ONE CAR wreck in NASCAR? This is what you get when the sponsor is more interested in putting a pretty boy instead of a driver in their car. In the 60s, this guy would've been sent back to racing in the Soap Box Derby. Of course then, they used real cars rather than spacecraft on wheels !
I went to Texas ... ( 2 months ago by Bigrigcole)
I went to Texas Motor Speedway to see the Sunburn Grand Prix (an SCCA race) and they cleaned that wall up good! I'd love to go see the Dickies 500, haven't been to a Nascar race for a couple of years.

STOP IT right at 1: ... ( 2 months ago by Hiei2k7)
STOP IT right at 1:20, you see a puff of Sta-Dry come up near the wall behind his car, It gets him loose going down into the corner, you can see the tail end coming out. He did the WRONG thing in that situation, he should have let off the gas until it corrected, he tried to save it and it made a right turn alright, and climbed the hill. Here's my question. If Dale Earnhardt had wrecked with the COT Car, would he still be with us today?
Hard to say, ... ( 2 months ago by spur18)
Hard to say, because its not only the car but those walls which help alot as well. Besides the fact Dale's Seat belt broke which is most likely why he was killed. These things happen usually it takes flukes sometimes, and sometimes it takes losing great champions to fix all the flaws. Thats just how it is. I know Michael has been working hard with simulators to get as ready as you could. Its good to see him get out without any help. :)

must be the name ... ( 2 months ago by bd189)
must be the name because a man named ronnie mcdowell(no relations) went for a major rolling tumble at a track named 'beacon hill speedway' once. if i knew how to transfer to my computer from a vcr i'd post the commercial featuring ronnies wreck.

at 1:44 if you look at the front tire/suspension it looks as if it collapsed , just as the car goes through into the shadow
i might think dale ... ( 1 month ago by Dropspine)
i might think dale earnhardt was trying to correct and accidently hit the quick release on the belts when he crashed.
i know most of that ... ( 1 month ago by ruxer24)
i know most of that musta collapsed when he hit the wall lol
That's weight ... ( 1 month ago by gp75motorsports)
That's weight transfer. As the car goes into the corner the G-forces pull all the weight to the right side of the car. That's what you're seeing.
He was tapped by ... ( 1 month ago by BadBooking)
He was tapped by Marlin (who was below the yellow line), and in reaction, Sr. overcorrected and hit the wall fatally. Also add in the seatbelt issue and no HANS device, and a crash that could have been survivable was not.
And that's also why there are rules for the yellow line now too at Daytona and Talladega.
Marlin wasn't below ... ( 1 month ago by tylertjp)
Marlin wasn't below the yellow line, go back and watch the footage of it. He was close to it, but you can't go below the yellow line going through the corner, not at Daytona! The only time drivers can go below the yellow line at Daytona would be when it's flat like the backstretch, not the high-banked corners of turns 3 and 4 at Daytona, come on!
I've got the race ... ( 1 month ago by BadBooking)
I've got the race on DVD, so I'll watch that part again. That may have been just me.
He was very close ... ( 1 month ago by tylertjp)
He was very close to the line; the front fender may have gone over, but I don't believe the wheel ever did. Regardless, the rules say that a driver can't pass under the yellow line; it doesn't really say anything about barely riding on it. Besides, Earnhardt brought this on himself by blocking, which backed up the field from about 3rd to 10th place. That's just as dangerous on a restrictor plate as going below the yellow line, if not more so.
Even though that ... ( 1 month ago by BadBooking)
Even though that was dangerous, Sr. was only trying to protect Jr. and Mikey, and give Mikey his first Cup win. At the time, you could definitely pass below the yellow line. The Talladega race after enforced that rule.
Yeah, most drivers ... ( 1 month ago by tylertjp)
Yeah, most drivers in his shoes would have done the same thing.
In case you didn't ... ( 1 month ago by Brian211978)
In case you didn't watch the whole thing, wallace took the air off of earnhardt and caused the start of him losing control in the first place you retard! Quit jumping to conclusions!
and also if you ... ( 1 month ago by baseballboy3824)
and also if you remember, he was in the old not nearly as safe car
