This video shows an initial test of the MDS (Mobile Dexterous Social) Robot designed
and built in collaboration with the MIT Media Lab's Personal Robots Group, UMASS Amherst's Laboratory for Perceptual Robotics, Xitome Design, and Meka Robotics. It illustrates the robot's expressive range of movement using scripted animations and pre-recorded speech.

| I'm not worried about invasion. I'm worried about gradual replacement, in our jobs etc. It's hard to compete with something that doesnt require pay, food, sleep, kind management styles. In Japan they are already integrating these into more higher level jobs, like customer service, and care for the elderly; not just welding at GM plants anymore... |

| Before they can even try and attempt to take over, they need a brain like ours. That would require two super computers, one with a parallel processor system, and one with a serial processor ststem, along with a specialized linking system, and that doesn't even cover specialized systems and software. Just because they look human, or even if they wield a weapon, they won't have the ability to take over. They will only be a super advanced hammer until the advent of perfect AI technology. |

| gremmpaltakin you have to realize that its imposible to get replaced because if robots start to exsist in mass qantitys we'd need people to matinence those robots and even if they did take over are jobs curency/ money would no longer be needed in this world mostly everything would become free exsept then they'd have to make some kind of credit system and all that... |

| Who said anything about robots taking over? you have been watching too much Terminator. A hammer that can replace your job, or may in the future. Imaging telling workers 90 years ago that their jobs would be replaced by robots in assembly lines. Guess what, they have. The reason the problem is so insidious is because it is so gradual. You see a hammer, and not the reception, home nursing, customer service and manufacturing jobs that are already being replaced with automation. |
