| The only reason people compare the two is because they both draw the largest audiences for motorsport. However, they are both the opposite ends of the spectrum. NASCAR should really only be compared with Indy Car (Oval Racing), and the only thing that was similiar to F1 was CART/Champ Car (Circuit Racing). People should agree to disagree that they both take skill. Shit, it's not like Montoya (F1) or Franchitti (IRL), are dominating NASCAR. |

| I think everyone should watch the Top Gear episode where Hammond *attempts* to drive an F1 car. And believe me, he's a more talented driver than any of us, even if he isn't a racer. I consider myself to be a damn good driver with any kind of transmission, and I've owned some very difficult (and broken) cars. I'll hold my hands up and say I couldn't get an F1 car 100 yards down the road. |

| Apples and oranges. Two different series, all equally skilled. To sit there and say one series takes more skill then another and that the best drivers in one series are incapable of driving in the other is ignorant. The speeds from F1 are amazing, but the aerodynamics and weight allow such high speeds with FAR more grip. NASCAR has the same power, weights twice as much, and has no where near the aerodynamics to produce that kind of grip, so it relies more on mechanical. Apples and oranges. |

| Compared to stock cars, they are a techno showcase. There are buttons all over the steering.....thing, that you must make used of (and the steering..thing alone costs about $100,000). The speed they are capable of taking corners is just absolutely unreal, and its scarey thinking you have to keep up such a fast pace, too...or else it kills you and you will end up fucking up the gear box or something.... |
