You're saying that this isn't a good song? To me it is a great song. No, more than great - fantastic. Bono does also have a life outside of writing & producing music. In his spare time he helps aid the sick & dying in Africa - as with many other sings & actors.
What Bono gives in return from all the nice comments on YouTube & all the fans he is followed by, he gives us music & helps aid in Africa, as well as performing body-shocking concerts.

Better Songs? This is the best song of U2... I think All That You Can't Leave Behind the best u2 album... There was thrilling songs like this one, kite (another fantastic lyric)...Stuck in a moment... A great album, coming closer than the 80's U2 (for me, the 90's have only few good songs) but more mature... And How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb is great to.... I think Bono (as a songwriter) is better than ever....

Bono doesn't even donate to charity that much... he just asks for people and companies to donate and he takes the credit. His views are populist and short-sighted, and more importantly, discourage responsible countries from paying their foreign debt. Bono just comes up with arguments which are hard to deny, but which make no economic sense in the long run... and yes, his dumb politics in search for a nobel piece prize deter him from what he does best - music.

Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own, Vertigo, Original Of The Species, All Because Of You... some others? :S Those were great songs. Anyways, this October is the big month for U2's next album & a man named Steve Lillywhite says it's their best album ever.

dfp---I bet Bono gives a whole lot more than you do. Populist politics are the politics of the average man. He encourages rich countries to forgive the debt of poor countries who can never hope to pay off their debt and spend most of their meager resources paying off huge interest amounts instead of being able to help their impoverished people. You show your "dumbness" by thinking you know what the man's motivations are.

Arche, no need to get offensive. I'm too old for that. I am an economist by training so I am forced to think not as the average man but as a policy maker. That does not mean I am dumb - not by a long shot. While you may be right that populist economic policies are what the average man appreciates in the short term, they are not what are most convenient for him in the long run. Bono's proposed solutions don't solve anything. It's what has been done since forever and Africa is only worsening.

Arche, I come from an underdeveloped country, but one which has never ceased to pay its foreign debt. That has certainly imposed important restrictions on government spending but also an important sense of responsibility. It also means that much needed foreign capital is still willing to land in my country. I would feel very discouraged if all of a sudden the debt of a neighboring irresponsible country is forgiven.
