Thank you ozzyosb! ... ( 5 months ago by SPAZZOBOXER)
Thank you ozzyosb! True, they were called garage, & they did influence a lot of grunge/garage bands over the next 35+ yrs., but giving them that label today, with the term "Garage Band" being applied to such poor excuses for rock artists, borders on insulting. This band defied convention. Before the mid-70's semi-commercial switchover & increased AM Radio exposure throughout N. America, they were actually MORE popular!( sales & draw ). Word of mouth, stellar live reputation, the people's choice!

you've done your homework! So True. I have read articles that so many bands tried to be somewhat just like them or were heavily influenced. Not to bad for a garage band that was snubbed by parents, critics, media and Rock Hall of Fame!!!

Mel, the bass player, is totally cool! He was the original "Flea"!
Catch him toward the end of this with a "ciggarette" dangling from his mouth, like a "smoke after sex"!! The jam must have felt that good!

Amen! The Hall of ... ( 2 months ago by violetrod)
Amen! The Hall of Fame is a friggin joke! The true pinnacle of rock and the place where the original GFR resides is in the soul, heart and memories of those who grew up with them and the younger generation who appreciate them (Mark, Mel & Don) today . They still astound me when I hear their music and see these videos...

Love GFR and especially enjoy Don's drumming. He's a greatly underappreciated rock drummer IMO.
Mark's guitar ... ( 1 month ago by 010lats)
Mark's guitar playing may have been crude & harsh; but it was genuine and emotional technicians of the future couldn't replicate. The feelings had to come through the instruments; with Mark, Don & Mel they did.

Mark would literally get down on his knees giving his all, kind of a white rock & roll James Brown!
