The guitar-playing isn't too great here, so you really shouldn't base the entirety of Omar's ability on this one video. I think his work on Mars Volta is much better.

If you will look at the start of the video you will notice the first two notes are perfect and then he fucks his guitar by banging it off himself/something else. so he did tune. and he cant really stop the performance to chance guitar so he had to play the rest with a broken guitar. absolute legend!!
