| i ran across 4 Kingston Trio albums that my parents owned. I recorded them onto cassette tapes, and like a fool, I sold them at the estate sale. i never tire of this music. ah, well.... kingston trio albums pop into used record stores from time to time....Readers Digest did a nice 3-cd set. |

| This footage and the earlier b/w footage posted was what folk-rock was like "back in the day", my friends. The Kingston Trio grew their hair and 'burns a little longer, but by '67 they knew it was time, as did a lot of the 50's/early 60's performers. A few tried to adapt and couldn't, and fewer still made it but lost what it was all like back in the day of folk-rock, harmony groups, and real singers. Simon&Garf. made the change, but many others were by 1970 obsolete until now in nostalgia. |

| It's an eight-string tenor guitar - same idea as a a 12 string guitar. The tenor guitar has four strings normally; Nick's special set-up doubled each string for greater resonance. Sadly, Nick Reynolds died in San Diego on Oct 1 2008 (following John Stewart's death in January of this year) - leaving only Bob Shane alive from the original group. |
