2.48 Hear hear! My epiphone sounds great but ttakes 25 minutes to tune because it just won't stay how it's supposed to. I might change the tuners, see how that helps.
Squier turn out some good stuff with the Standard and Affinity's as they are, personally I would change the knobs, nut, possibly pickups too, but they aren't plywood or anything (I've played a plywood one - Ugh!!)but here in UK where everything seems twice as much because its imported, (£300=$350
UK prices in comparison to US)

i would rather get a mexican strat because they are half the price of the american strat, but they are still a pretty decent guitar

hey next time you string it try rubbing some graphite in the slots of the nut, lubricates it which helps with the tuning.

rather buy a more better guitar than see the effort and the cost of the new tuners for a cheap guitar.

you can NEVER go wrong with fender. the most amazing sound and feel. the best guitars in the world. so versatile. also their cool coz they wont go out of date like mls have done. deans reali get boring.

bollocks...fenders have far too low action and the single coil pickups are too screachy...you cant speed pick at all

no man. modern fenders are not screechy. i have a usa strat which is pure bliss. the single coils just sound different from a humbucker. its kinda cool coz theres so many humbucker players out there, it makes it sound different. also i noticed any single coil player sounds unique. however interferance is a bummer from time to time. u shud b able to speed pick on ANY guitar. i can to it easy on my strat. and is yngwie malmsteen not a good example?

now at the moment i have bn given a stagg strat to setup for a beginned. now it is squeaky. i can still speed pick it but it sounds bad. also a pile of the old fender replicas are bad. i have a 1970s replica. and squiers just blow. theyr embarassing. all of those that i have tried are sqeaky. however all of the fenders than i have played have bn flawless. their very versatile. but all in all i guess it depends wot ur into. i know im bored of deans. but jacksons still rock
Malmsteen is a ... ( 1 week ago by MilitantOldLady)
Malmsteen is a wanker, everything he plays sounds the same... you hook a strat to a W160+ amp with any distortion pedal that has gain emphasised its going to screach like hell...i know first hand... the action is just way too low on the body, your hand has to go realy flat and uncomfortable to string mute and speed pick at the same time also the bridge is just a bent piece of aluminium, no finesse...with time the glue and the screws give way and the thing starts to move about

the point is he can do it with no squeal. wot u use? lets b honest. its not worth arguing over.

i had a lead guitarist in my band use a Fender American Strat on a Behringer amp through a Korg Toneworks multieffect board....the thing squealed and screached like hell... then we put him on the other guitarist's Fender amp through a Zoom Distortion box and it still screached like a stabbed pig then we gave him an Epiphone SG and it didnt squeel once
lol. but theres a ... ( 1 week ago by tcrangle963)
lol. but theres a reason y behringer is cheap. its kak. now i have a behringer bass amp. to b fair it is every bit as good as the fender rumble series. i played through a behringer combo a few times and was not amused. that was with a patrik eggle guitar. now those are uncommon. feels like a childs guitar tho! it had humbuckers. still sounded like crap. wot type of music were you playing?? u gotta admit single coils to sound cool clean. not as good as a humbucker when distorted.

we play southern metal/thrash metal...usualy we have a pretty decent amp assembly...two Fender 160W amps, the two guitarists have a bunch of effects boxes, cant remember all of them, i have a 200W Benton bass amp, its loud as hell...i write all the songs so i play guitar aswell for writing porpouses...i have a Gibson classic V and an ESP LTD FM100 Viper...i play them on my Roland Cube 30, but for writing its good, the live playing is for the other two in the band
the V is a real ... ( 1 week ago by MilitantOldLady)
the V is a real Gibson...i got it as a gift from a relative a while ago...i guess today it would fetch a cool 1000
€ if i sold it on, but it just looks fantastic... yes, i am a tune-o-matic bridge guy, it just feels more solid and the higher action is realy comfortable to pick
Hi David, I know ... ( 1 week ago by FSofty)
Hi David, I know you don't really rate the 'older' squier strats, but with the advent of the newer 50's and 60's vibe squier strats, do you still say the same? I'd be grateful fpr a review of these two instruments by you and if you could compare them to the MIM and USA models, even better.
Great work you do man!
