I know that if both ... ( 3 months ago by Freakgrl04)
I know that if both her boyfriend and her girlfriend showed up Janis may be alive or lived longer then she did...So I have to say I lay the blame of her death on them! I don't care what anyone says, but if they were their she wouldn't have felt lonely!
Hey, let's not ... ( 3 months ago by txmcxlx)
Hey, let's not resort to violence. No matter where I turn I have to put up with Rock and Roll Imperialism. I turn on the radio and hear the same old payola roll drug music over and over again. The same old junk filling the airwaves. Polluting the enviroment at work, at the store, in the doctors office. Everywhere the same worn out junk is being played over and over again because years ago some drug addict sold the rights to a lawyer for a fix. Its all payola man!
Wow, her Woodstock ... ( 3 months ago by troncep)
Wow, her Woodstock performance was her WORST ever? From the clips that I've seen of it, her worst is still a hell of a lot better than the best many singers today can hope for.
When some one young ... ( 3 months ago by naychud)
When some one young died like that, the blame game starts. Janis was destined to meet her maker...it`s no one`s fault. Yeah, I saw that clip from Woodstock where she sang Try, just a little bit harder and it was great. Still, that Woodstock clip from this programme is fairly grim...she looked desperate. I think her gteatest TV performance is singing Little Girl Blue live on the Tom Jones show....wonderful.
She was the greatest white blues/rock singer ever. Janis, we love ya!!!
She was a very ... ( 3 months ago by badaudbob)
She was a very capable/much ahead of her times artist/woman in many ways and this may sound simplistic but the internal pain/conficts that made her great also did her in
Well no not all ... ( 3 months ago by Freakgrl04)
Well no not all rockers are drug addicts, but the thing is, a hell of a lot of them are! Jimi Hendrix, Ozzy Osbourne, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, Steve Tyler, Mick Jagger...all of them where drug addicts and some of the most famous leads in rock bands. That life style often comes with the job.
Jagger a drug ... ( 3 months ago by naychud)
Jagger a drug addict?...seems more of a money/sex addict. He must be a billionaire by now...so much for the blues??!!
First, I don't like ... ( 3 months ago by skiingisgoodforyou)
First, I don't like this Peggy Caserta. I read her book "Goin' Down on Janis" and I think she tried to cash in on Janis's story. Second, I think Janis was beautiful, not just physically but because she sang like the rarest of birds. Like so many who gave so much but had to die so young, I can only hope she is in a better place now.
it's sickening. all ... ( 3 months ago by unkljer)
it's sickening. all these normies trying to cash in on Janis's memory. Janis's worst day singing is better than anything else we got now. she was as superior in her craft as any bigtime lawyer or mogul businessman.
"rock star = drug ... ( 2 months ago by bapyou)
"rock star = drug addict"
This formula is a complete cliche. It's complete bullshit. It's almost as if - today - being a "rock star" is a follow-by-the-numbers set of rules. A follow-by-the-numbers set of rules is not - and never will be - what rock'n'roll is or was supposed to be about. Fuck cliche. Fuck it.
Cavett is a dolt. ... ( 2 months ago by bapyou)
Cavett is a dolt. Janis answering "Who would care?" to a question about overdosing has nothing to do with Janis thinking that her life was "over". It was a simple admission of loneliness. Pure and simple.
Woodstock her worst ... ( 2 months ago by mikeinfla)
Woodstock her worst preformance? She was the only one called up for an encore...two encores.
well a bad ... ( 2 months ago by genericizeme)
well a bad performance for Janis is the equivalent to any other artist's best performance. haha
If this poor girl ... ( 2 months ago by GroovyBlackCat)
If this poor girl had been given an ounce of self confidence by someone being kind to her in her formative years, she might not have tried to find solace in alcohol & drugs and could have been alive today. What makes me angry is she was a nice looking girl. Not Marilyn Monroe, but who is? I'd like to think the conciences of those who voted her 'ugliest man on campus' might hurt them after her death, but that kind of mentality is usually devoid of remorse.
Creedence ... ( 2 months ago by Dntexerville)
Creedence Clearwater Revival was ann excellent band who never did drugs
To groovy black cat ... ( 2 months ago by Musicpriestess)
To groovy black cat,
Janis Joplin went through what so many people are going through today. Dont get me wrong, i love and WORSHIP Janis. But think about how many people you could help-everybody could help- today, right now. Just tell somebody you love them. Somebody who needs it. Because how do you know that they are putting on a front to protect themselves like Janis?
