horrible,yes,but I belive that for example dodge ram,f-150,hilux or whatever would have pretty same rating..this is one of the first crash tests of a pick up car.thats why nobody in the past payed attention to the safty of these cars..yes they have airbags,stabilsation systems and all these stuff,but obviously its not all about this.the car is "hard as a rock",BUT has very few deformation zones.thats why all the weight of the car is absorbed to the softer parts,which obviously is the cabine.

look, more than 2000kg Navara is being damaged much more harder by the wall than 1000kg Renault Clio. I'd like to see comparison of other 2000kg cars.

i think the navara is not made on the pathfinder's platform because the pathfinder has 4 stars ...probably is made on a old nissan pick-up platform

No, it's certainly based on the Pathfinder, the problem is, that if the airbags open to late they literally crush your face, because your head doesn't hit the airbag, but the airbag hits your head(This is what happens to the driver). The other problem is that the tensioning mechanism of the seatbelt isn't set properly and can break your neck (and this is what happens to the passenger). Both things can be mended, but I am still quite shocked by this, because I know quite a few Navara owners.

you're perfectly right but why they didn't left the pathfinder's settings to the navara...they are nearly at the same price..and look at the deformation in pathfinder's crash test and look at the navara's crash test...navara weighs a little bit more but this is not a reason,because the deformation zones at the chassis are the same on both cars.

lets see what the hilux gets when it crashes into a brick wall. all the pick ups will get 1 star. if it crashes head on into another smaller vehicle though it will be a different story. the weight of this vehicle is a lot more than a standard car so its obvious it will crunch more when hitting a brick wall

It is a worry I own a 2008 model going to ask nissan about this but I have added big nugde bar and sump protector and horizontal bar ( just below the bumper ) already, this might help maybe welding a steel plate under the front of the car on the chassis will also help it to crumple less and no its bigger than the pathfinder but based on the platform but not the same its newer, still abit worried

Oh **** off, i had a Highway barrier collision due to another car cutting my exit... and the frame didn't move a millimeter. Shitty paint job but apart from that the car is superb.

Looks like you don't know much about crash tests: in a full frontal test, it is easier for the vehicle's structure to absorb the energy, but there are higher loads on the occupants. But in offset tests like the ones EuroNCAP, the structural integrity of a vehicle is tested more stringently.

No, it did not do too well. EuroNCAP has a strict rating system and it is pretty hard to get the top 5 star rating from them. Get a vehicle that gets 4 stars at least. Preferably 5. That is decent.
