A two-year-old child adopted from Russia three months ago has died after being left alone in an overheated car. It happened in the U.S. town of Herndon, where the death of Dmitry Yakovlev is likely to further complicate the already disputed issue of foreign adoption in Russia.

That is not so easy to adopt child in Russia you must have certain income and to have enough room at your house... Russians maybe can not give more material items to their kids but they can give considerably more love. I still can not comprehend why this couple adopted the kid if they didn't have time for him and needed a baby-sitter (It's not any better to leave a kid in children-home in Russia.)

Did you Russians hear the statistics in this RT report? 70,000 adoption in 10 years, about 7000/year. 20 US deaths is low but still tragic, but also 3,000 die each year in Russia due to neglect and violence. Just look at the homeless kids in SPB. Russian laws do not require fathers to pay child support to children after a divorce. Now, Russian men are being self-righteous? A 3 year old boy from Russia was tortured and murdered by his adoptive mother who conjured up the most unbelievable excuses for his death you can imagine incl it was self defense!!! Here we had a 3 year old boy and a big fat hulking beast of a woman who beat him and tortured him all over his body, his body was battered beyond recognition and this woman enjoyed herself for hours until the boy finally, mercifully, died. She is now in prison but will be getting out.
