Pure magic! Perhaps Carreras didn't have the highest high notes, but all his OTHER notes are so beautiful, rich, noble and romantic. He was born to play Rodolfo. This scene always makes me cry!

NJTenor is right. For heaven's sake people, wake up! If you enjoy a tenor voice which is somewhat hooted and with a poor upper register, and a rendition that is transposed down to compensate the tenors shortcoming, gestures and facial expressions excessively to convey the emotions as the voice fails to do so by itself, then this rendition might be considered wonderful. However, that does not make it a high quality opera performance!

This Inquistive4ever person is all over YT right now, mostly complaining about the tenors that he thinks are overrated (Carreras, Domingo,Villazon,etc.) The only opinion he respects is one that completely concurs with his own. He's just looking for an argument. Let him starve.

TheInquisitive4Ever you are bonkers. The acting is wonderful, the singing is romantic and true. The chemistry between Stratas and Carreras is electrifying and beats any dull performance where a singer belts out an aria and dosen't even look at the other singer. Who seriously wants that?? You listen with a score but not your heart and soul. So be it.
