Episodes 25 and 26 are pure perfection. They're the way Anno intended. It's his creation. His brain child. And I'm sure many aspects of him self have been incorporated into the series as a whole; including and especially 25 and 26. If you can't accept and understand those episodes, if it because you're truly as simple and narrow minded as your blunt comment has implied? Evangelion is a piece of art. You have to accept and love it as a whole; not individual pieces.

Despite the fact that some aspects of a story may apply to others more so than some..it all must be treated as a whole. A beautiful whole. Not just a kick ass giant robot trashing aliens..but a deep emotional, philosophical, theological trip delving deepinto the human psyche; targeting key aspects of our personality.

You are correct here. 25 and 26 are flawless pieces of artistic and pioneering film making, and this fact is unaffected from any financial problems during production. I find any claims of the inferiority of these episodes asinine.
