I did not like ...( 11 months ago by knifeofspaghetti)
I did not like Anansi Boys very much, but Stardust was excellent for the plot. Very excellent, in fact, much more so than the movie.
And did you ever read The Sandman? That is, like, the best frakking comic series in human history.

Might I ask then, exactly what graphic novels you'd consider to be exemplary, then? Or, in that sense, modern fantasy novels?
I'd like to know what your comparisons are.
Personally, I consider him a master, but I've always prefered his short stories to his full blown novels. I think thewy do better shorter than longer, save for American Gods. But of course, that's just me.

If you're adressing me, then, I must say I have read Good Omens and adored it. However, that was a joint effort, and I was more reffering to his solo work.

I too disliked Anansi Boys and some of the stories in Fragile things. I'm now reading American Gods which is excellent. The sandman comics were or are friking great but i'm still so undecided about this author being an acclaimed one

Then how do you feel about his children's books? I've personally only read Coraline, but found it both well-written and horrifying. I'd definitely recommend not reading it at night.
I did not read ...( 8 months ago by MobiusCoin)
I did not read Stardust but I thought the movie was unwatchable. The only reason I did go watch it was because it was written by Gaiman. Such a disappointment. But yes, Sandman, beautiful beyond words.
My thoughts on two ...( 8 months ago by eadgwonder)
My thoughts on two of Gaiman's projects, "Interworld" can't wait to see if there's a sequel, loved it!!!! Read it in two days!!! Beowulf, I give it a 4 out of 10. Written very hastily, as though they threw the whole story together in fifteen minutes. Could have been much better, maybe better without Angelina Jolie. The best thing about Beowulf, Crispin Glover!!!
I think he's better ...( 8 months ago by gyerekember)
I think he's better in longer stories, where he has space to evolve the characters. For the first reading I didn't like Anansi Boys... then I reread it, and it was awesome. Knowing where the story leads, it was very interesting to find the twists and turns that lead there. Also finding a lot of small signs that tells a lot about the ending, and each time I said (at second reading) 'oh of course, it's clearly written here'.

i find it weird and alittle creepy that people laugh after the line " colder too, and sharper and they cut" its not a funny line. and its really not funny if you think about it.

I find Neverwhere and American Gods to be his best, but Coraline sneaks hauntingly up behind.
