| after watching this video I have come to realize that I do not agree with the implementation of this dialectic logic that is used in creating laws and deciding court cases. I think a lawyer should argue on the side of the issue that he knows is true and absolute. |

| Hmm. I was a debater before becoming a lawyer. Hmm. Socrates/Plato/Aristotle was discussed a fair amount -- as the logical underpinning for the system. I had never thougth the whole system was built on it, though. But, far be it for me to know. [I like you channel it is very interesting.] |

| oh I'm sure a whole lot of other ideas got thrown into the mix. Honestly, trying to come up w/ a better system would be hard to do. Anyone should have a right to a defense obviously and the second you acknowledge that point you get a thesis counter thesis situation. Much better than a totalitarian state w/ no human rights though. |

| Great video. ***** I disagree with the description of Socratic Dialogue, as he believed in "truths" being virtues. It was the Sophists who were the first lawyers that believed truth was relative and subjective to the best arguement. But fun & thoughtful video anyway! :) |

| What's terribly frightening about this, is the whole system of justice and the courts is built on debate and your ability to defend yourself with words, or hiring someone who can. You can quickly find yourself imprisoned for years, for life, or executed if you can't defend yourself for whatever reason. |

| Hey, I believe in what Socrates said about combining two pieces of information that counter eachother to come up with a truth. In Astrology the sign of the "truth" is Sagittarius. The opposite sign of Sagittarius is Gemini. Gemini is represented by "the twins", two people. Gemini is about communication. Two people communicate. Geminis are known to vacillate and play with ideas, always looking for something new. They like to discuss, and yes, debate. |

| In Astrology, two signs that are the opposite compliment eachother and balance eachother out. Aries rules opposition, fighting, war, and starting new things. Libra, it's opposite, is peace-loving and diplomatic and their key word is "balance". Opposition and balance. You can't have one without the other. |

| So true. Women win far too many arguments simply because of their mammary glands. Of course, sometimes we let them "win" so we can have sex with them, but everybody knows that. In my experience, kids on debate team were not that popular, maybe it was different at your school. Peace out. |

| I'm a female debater, and I've noticed a similar effect. I don't like the idea of being given special treatment. I've found that one of the best ways to prevent it is to be a bitch to the person you will face prior to the debate. Polarize them against you. If they dislike you enough, any attractive physical characteristics you have will (hopefully) become transparent to them. |
