sorry tricky, i'm afraid you are wrong, i have the original vinyl LP with the lyrics printed on the record sleeve. If you type peter gabriel games without frontiers lyrics into google you will find many results stating the correct lyric as goons not coons.

Are you kidding, man? Then every country vying for power through the games would turn into giant fascist athletic training camps. Almost every citizen would be forced by the government to dedicate most of their lives to training for these "games." Other countries would send in assassins to kill top competition, and there would most likely be riots/violent, war-like scenarios when it came time for the actual games by the government, rebel forces, athletes who didn't make the cut, or anyone.

I've always liked this ORIGINAL music video for "Games Without Frontiers" and never understood why Peter later chose to re-edit it and take out his wonderfully menacing presence hovering over the table, mocking the visual charaterization of the rich and powerful as simply spoilt, pampered children.

Actually, Peter is simply singing the song's title in FRENCH during the chorus. "Jeux sans frontieres" (with an accent mark over the first 'e' in frontieres) translates to "Games Without frontiers" in English.

Many folks assume it's Kate Bush who sings the chorus/refrain in French when it actually is sung by Peter. Back then Peter had a much better vocal range than he does nowadays.

Kate Bush did do the backing vocals but it's PETER you hear singing the refrain in French.
Kate's backing vocal is pretty much buried in the mix. Back in 1980, Peter had a MUCH BETTER vocal range than he does nowadays- which is the reason he rarely performs this song in concert anymore.

The "girl" is actually Peter. Kate's backup vocal is actually buried in the mix..at least that's what Kate Bush told me years ago. Peter in 1980 had a much better vocal range than nowadays and the engineer sped up his vocal a bit to make it sound even higher.
