Gotta start with Kind of Blue. Now one who loves Miles lives without that album (no one who loves jazz doesn't own it either). Frequently voted the greatest Jazz album of all time.

So Great! The legendary bunch at their best! Fantastic! @DANNYK678: "Birth of the Cool", "Miles Ahead", "Kind of Blue", "Live at the Plugged Nickel" (same time as this clip), "In a silent way", "Star People", "Aura". "Bitches Brew" is one of my absolute favorites, but it's not easy listening music (but beautifull ;-)

basically every great jazz musician that lived through the bebop period had a heroin habit. (with a few exceptions of course). miles was off of heroin by the time this video was made though, but he still was doing cocaine and hard liquour.

It depends on the period I think. If it was closer to the mid 60's some might have peeked into it. But I think the drug relation to Jazz musicians is a bad stereotype. Clifford Brown never did any drugs and Cannonball Adderley's only vice was a Jelly Doughnut.

yeah they are two of the exceptions i mentioned. to me, clifford brown has the saddest story because he got killed in a car accident...but he didn't do any drugs.

I think the entire city of Karlsruhe is still trying to understand what happened that evening...This is Miles quintet at its very best...Tony Williams was simply sublime...Wayne Shorter is nothing short than a MASTER...His solo is simply ASTOUNDING!!!
